Synopsis

A special movie said to be inspired by the Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet video game. The story takes place during the Gun Gale Online arc.

Bandai Namco uploaded the short to their official YouTube channel saying it was a pilot version. They are also having an open audition for the female's voice via Twitter. Users can vote for the girls by retweeting their videos (which can either be through Twitter or a link to YouTube). February 8-19 will be the first selection where the top 3 accounts retweeted are chosen. And February 21-22 will be the final selection of girls where the previous 3 accounts along with 1 account chosen by the producer are judged.

Mixed Feelings
Ugh, I had to.

Diving in into this, even for a 3 minutes long slideshow, it was very confusing to make sense of as I'm unfamiliar with the games.
By the looks of it, it's a Bandai Namco production in hopes of marketing a related game, but man, watching 3 minutes and still having no clue of what this was screams of bad marketing in my book.

The lack of colors made it hard to follow, and the absence of music even more so, it was like living inside of a fever dream, it tried to say something, but turned out, we spoke different languages.

An extra episode or just a demo?

When I stumbled upon *Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet: The Third Episode - Pilot-ban*, I confess I was quite confused. Given the visuals and the above-average technical quality, my first impression was that I was looking at the announcement of a new *Sword Art Online* anime. The aesthetic differs from the franchise's usual standard, the animation appears more refined at times, and the direction conveys the feel of an ambitious project. Naturally, this created expectations that the episode fails to meet.
