Tensei Oujo to Tensai Reijou no Mahou Kakumei

Princess Anisphia "Anis" Wynn Palletia has always dreamed of flying through the sky, even though the people of her kingdom consider it a silly ambition. Also at odds with her goal is the fact that Anis is incapable of using magic despite her noble status. Refusing to give up so easily, she renounces her right to the throne, and focuses on developing "magicology" by combining various resources with knowledge from her previous life on Earth.

Due to Anis' nature, responsibility for the kingdom's future is passed onto her younger brother, Algard. Pushed into a political marriage with Euphyllia Magenta, a girl he hardly knows, Algard rebels by spending more time with a commoner girl than his fiancée. After Euphyllia tries to intervene, Algard publicly calls off their marriage and denounces his ex-fiancée as a bully.

After crashing into the banquet where Algard makes the announcement, Anis rescues Euphyllia on the flying broom she is testing. She decides to make Euphyllia her assistant, which the other girl reluctantly agrees to. Although their partnership appears random at first, Anis has an ulterior motive for wanting Euphyllia's company.

THIS SHOW HEALED ME 😭.
Before watching, this show gave off isekai-slop vibes. And it felt that way for the first couple of episodes, but then they just started cooking. The story is phenomenal and is held back by the generic 12-episode format. But even with that handicap, the writers still managed to cover so many bases without hurting the story. They have well-animated fights, cover deep themes, a good romance, likable characters, and a good ending. The only stipulation for this show is that it's very fast-paced. Not a lot of room to rest, which might be good for its story, but it can be ... exhausting to watch.

Story:
This show has two main stories: Algard and Anis, and Euphyllia and Anis. With the latter being the romance storyline and the former being the "action" storyline. Both of these stories could have a whole season dedicated to each, given how well done they are. Actually, they should have done that because it can feel rushed at certain points. The action side of this show is nothing crazy. Anis is OP, but not so to the point that every obstacle is just her aura farming. The dynamic between Algard and Anis as brother and sister isn't unique, but it does cover some deep and darker themes. Algard's story is much more dominant compared to Euphyllia's and could be considered the main story. But even with that, the romance in this show is handled so well — even though they put it on the back burner until towards the end — that it becomes the main selling point. This romance somehow doesn't feel cringe (maybe because it's wlw 🤔). There isn't constant love-bombing and blushing; rather, they both don't know how they feel about each other, which prevents the cringey phase. And when the storyline finally makes their love story the spotlight, it's just beautiful 😢. Makes me wish I were a girl so I could be a lesbian fr.

Production:
In terms of production value, the visual direction stands out. Both the action and romantic scenes do well in conveying the mood. The animation is also good, but the fight scenes in particular are rather short. The other elements, such as sound, VA, music, etc., are also handled well. There isn't anything in the production value that falls behind or detracts from the experience.

Other Remarks:
This show is nothing like other isekais. It takes a unique approach to isekais, barely touching on their past life. It also covers a rather unexplored issue that other isekais never cover. This show is just a gem of an isekai, to be honest. It has everything a shitty isekai has, but refined. There aren't any characters that stand out, and some of them are lowkey kinda stupid (especially the parents)... so the story hard carries. And the last episode? Got me smiling gleefully and listening to love songs fr 😊



tl;dr:
Very well-done show in terms of production values and story. While being rather short, which results in some moments being slightly rushed, it still manages to have an emotional impact. It takes a very untraditional perspective on isekais, with the only similarity being a somewhat op MC. And the romance is peak and soul-healing.

Mixed Feelings

Fun magic system with an alright yuri couple on top. Outside from one scene early on, the central relationship presented is fairly good. The magic system gets explored from a variety of angles, but there isn't that much of a tight unifying cohesion to it all like in some other shows. Still, the bits explored are satisfying with good narrative payoff. The character dynamics get pretty good later on with a surprising levels of depth, but the resolution to all the drama feels admittedly dissatisfying for a one-season show.
This anime holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to this type of yuri.

Complete and utter waste of time.

It started off pretty well, set up an interesting world with many possibilities and and interesting cast of characters.

However, at around episode 7, or whenever the prince "killed" the vampire girl, the show went to complete shit. Character motivations were all over the place, plot points were contrived and forced, every action, every feeling of every character felt completely fake and forced to create a sense of "drama" the show ends with a complete cop-out ending, where the main character goes into a hissy fit about being a princess vs her girlfriend whining about wanting to kill herself to ... take over as a spirit ruler--no other alternatives were even discussed, the idea of nobility having to be magicians is just treated as a fact of life that cannot be changed, it's just so utterly dogshit that I genuinely hope noone spends the time to watch this beyond me. By the time I reached the final episode I had to spend my utmost effort not to skip the shitty "duel" and all the other contrived drama and resolutions, the final episode was so dogshit I could not bring myself to watch it all, just going through the "happily ever after" motions that the show contrived towards.
