Duchess Leticia Dorman has been betrothed to Crown Prince Clarke since age seven. Here we are, 12 episodes into this rom-com, which began with a disastrous premise.

We have Clark, a crown prince who, ten years ago, "decided" to take Leticia as his future wife against her will. Yes, we're in a medieval setting where, at the time, 1) women couldn't choose their spouses and 2) arranged marriages were common.

Leticia doesn't want to be queen, not entirely because she dislikes Clark, but because she's a free spirit, think of her as the anime version of "Sissi." So, she tries to escape every chance she gets, and has been doing so for about ten years.

During the show, we get to ... know other characters, such as Leticia's brother, parents, brother-in-law, and even the Queen and King. All of the characters are unique and contribute to some very funny situations. At the end of the day, we have a romantic comedy set in a medieval world where our princess is, in fact, in love with the prince but HATES the royal world (and let's be honest, who can blame her?). Now, add to this that Leticia breaks the fourth wall every chance she gets, which adds even more funny moments. AND not only her, we see other characters doing this as well.

This show deserves more love than hate, and I firmly believe it was one of the best Winter 2025 shows. The bad reviews it received were simply because people can't separate reality from fiction


Below I kept the "review" (a rant) I wrote after 6 episodes watching week by week how people went scoring right away either 1 or 2, just because its doesn't appeal to their "morals".

YES, WE KNOW IF THIS WAS SETTING ON A MODERN DAY WOULD BE A RED FLAG.

I really love the MC, the girl is strong and really knows what she wants, however, she is the protagonist of a "medieval" (fantasy) setting, where women didn't have enought power or weren't taking as importart AND is also a romcom, so of course this show shoulnd't be taking as serious as other people want to. THIS IS FICTION, we know no means no, but as for the premise, narrative, characters and story, THIS ANIME IS GOOD ON IT'S GENRE.

Since episode one, I am enjoying this too much.

Mixed Feelings

Now I normally try to look at all the positives of a series and objectively rank it but DAMN, I found myself skipping through this anime because it was super cringe. Now don't get me wrong there are aspects of this show I enjoyed. I loved the initial idea of the MC leaving the crown prince after finding out he was 'engaged" to someone else. Similar to 7th Time Loop or Trapped in a dating Sim. Honestly they should have stuck with that story line and split the Princes character into two characters. The childhood sweetheart and the Prince. Had she left the prince and ... maybe married the childhood sweetheart this anime could've been an 8/10. But instead we got some Stockholm syndrome BS where he essentially locks her up until she remembers she was "in Love" with him like 10 years ago. Although there are some cute moments in here I wouldn't recommend this unless you are REALLY bored. They should have split the prince's story line and made something more believable honestly. I would've been fine with the fake engagement, him coming after her thing, if he renounced his status and went to live the slow life with her too! That would have been more palatable but atlas we got this.

Simply put, this was the worst show of Winter 2025. I don’t know who this series was made for, but it certainly wasn’t for me. An emotionally abusive story where no one respects the main character’s autonomy or allows her to make any choices, a weirdo prince who stalks her and a brother who enables the abuse. This is bad. The only reason it’s not getting a lower score is because Lettie was pretty, I found myself laughing at a few of her escape attempts and the art style was nice, but it’s one of the few shows where there’s nothing redeemable about it. ...

Arranged marriage series are usually ass, but at least they tend to have some redeemable qualities. Maybe some nice world building, character development, wholesome, SOMETHING where you could be like “yea, this wasn’t great, but it’s ok” Kisaki is actually impressive in that it has NOTHING good going for it besides the main character design. This show accomplishes nothing in 12 episodes other than making it seem like the way to get the girl of your dreams is to stalk her, lock her in a castle and force your way on her. Yes, I get the twist that happened 8 episodes in is supposed to make all of this go away and make me feel sympathetic for the prince and Lettie, it didn’t. If anything it made me angrier and resent the author more for not just starting the series with that instead of subjecting us to two months of what amounted to emotional and mental abuse. Like seriously, the “I’m going to marry you no matter what and you’ll want it too” gimmick is so uncomfortable and borderline rapey that each week this tested my no drop rule. I ended up sticking this out which is probably one of the greatest accomplishments in my seasonal anime watching career, up there with finishing Gibiate, but this is bad, and not in a generic tropey way. As a shoujosei fan I know a lot of authors like taboo stuff or “toxic” relationships but this was just horrible and not even cute or sexy in a forbidden sort of way.

As I said, the art style and character designs were the best part of the show. They look bright and aesthetically pleasing. Animation is horrible for most of the show, but there’s two episodes or so where it looks solid. Lettie’s seiyuu was great.

Don’t be like me and waste time watching this. There’s many better shows to watch from this past season and coming up next season, no need to burden yourself with this.

I want to escape Princess lessons gets 2, out of 10.
