Jack the Ripper's mind games are really affecting her though. At least Jeanne knew how to deal with her tricks. A lot of psychology this episode but it's interesting to see how Jeanne dealt with all that. GG Jack the Ripper. Too bad Atalanta broke so easily. |

| So Jack the Ripper was the representative of all the kids who weren't given a chance in that era of London... The legend of Jack consumed the souls of the unfortunate kids to be part of his/her legend. Since that was the motive for the deeds and the reason he/she ended up as a heroic spirit. They made Jack into this ambiguous kind of evil spirit/hero since his/her real identity was never actually revealed in history. Hmmmmm |

| Interesting episode. We got the truth behind Assassin of black. There was a nice cameo of Medea, Artemis and Giles. Now Atalanta really hates Ruler, I'm looking foward to see how that's going to play out. Sieg now knows how ugly is the world. Goddammit Shakespeare, you are breaking the fourth wall! So... I read that Jack the Ripper can never be summoned again. (Another recap?, really?) |

| Well I can't watch the episode yet but I'm glad Jack's finally gone. She & her master were just low-rent wannabe's of Zero's Team Caster. Good riddance. Though I will say while I don't like this portrayal of Jack the whole myth thing revolving around the identity is a really cool concept. Pretty much you can create a whole bunch of what-if characters of who could have been Jack. Hell the whole embodiment of all the children abandoned by prostitutes is a pretty cool backstory, what ruined it was turning her into loli the stripper. |

Jack and Reika are way better than Zero's Team Caster tho. They had full character arcs[in the novel] and are both quite loveable. Zero's Team Caster just screamed 'COOL' all the time and were relevant for all of one scene which didn't even require them specifically but instead just a random giant monster. |

I read the novel just until Dracula's death, so I have no background over this... did Jeanne exorcized Jack? is that even possible? I thought that in Fate you had to cripple the enemy servant, leave him blind and stab him to destroy him. |

Reika and Jack had a whole chapter dedicated to them at the start telling us what we need to know and it went in depth concerning Reika's character. Then there's the stuff in Volume 4 to finish it. She was most certainly not empty. She could be better, yes, but she is far better than Ryuunosuke and saying the vice versa is true is laughable. Leaving that aside.... I read the novel just until Dracula's death, so I have no background over this... did Jeanne exorcized Jack? is that even possible? I thought that in Fate you had to cripple the enemy servant, leave him blind and stab him to destroy him. Yes, she excorsised Jack. Amakusa also excorsised Vlad. The 'leave him blind and stab him to destroy him' isn't necessary - Amakusa only threw Vlad around to weaken him(and look cool. Also his objects of choice for excorsising were Black Keys, so stabbing would be part of the package). Jack is already weakened and willing to comply so Jeanne doesn't have to do anything strenuous. |

| Great episode, definitely better than most of the others that we've been getting lately. While I did really like this episode, I am kinda conflicted. On one side Jeanne was characterized really well but on the other side, Atalanta's characterization felt weak and lacking exposition. I understand she's supposed to stand as some kind of symbol for saving children or something but I don't know, it's like they twisted her so easily to the point she's isn't even willing to listen which is hard to believe considering she came off as a very cool and collected character before. Anyway, this episode proves why Jeanne is my favorite. <3 I loved how she talked about her experience on the battlefield and her take on the whole 'Saint' status. However, My favorite part was towards the end where she says that no matter what kind of cruelty exists, she'll never give up on humanity. That was pretty beautiful. The soundtrack this episode was really good as well. Shakespeare at the end. xD |

| Well that was a pretty interesting episode, as we got to learn more about Jack and a little bit about Atalanta. Ruler has definitely gotten on Atalanta's bad side now after doing what she did. Lol Shakespeare in that post-ED scene. He always cracks me up. |

Now you're just undermining the point of Reika and Jack's characters. Gilles and Ryu were just terrible people for the sake of being terrible. They were just fodder and their job could be done by any other set of characters. Their job is more comparable to Shakespeare than Jack and Reika in that they're mostly there for shits and giggles and only really make somewhat of a difference later on. Jack and Reika, on the other hand, are tragic characters. The whole point about them is that they were victims who became villains because they started off as victims - the point is that they weren't simply horrible people for the sake of being horrible, but that everyone else around them were horrible as well and that, really, what they needed wasn't destruction in the same way as characters like Ryu and Gilles, but something more akin to salvation. The tragedy in Gilles death wasn't 'overdone' because he isn't a tragic character - he's just a bad person - and you shouldn't expect his and Reika/Jack's death to be similar at all. |

| Well lets blame the anime for completely fucking them up then. I know there parts in the story was utterly butchered in the anime & as a result all I'm left seeing is apparent knock-offs of a memorable & disturbingly lovable bromance. Like I get what your saying but I am gonna compare the characters cause narrative-wise they fulfill the same purpose as in wild-card serial killer distractions from the main plot. I just I got more entertainment out of Gilles & Ryu in the end than I got from Jack & Reika & this is me ignoring my extreme displeasure at Jack the Ripper being turned into a stripper loli. |

 Quite honestly, I was disenchanted by recent episodes. I enjoyed quite a few episodes in the first season. OP animation was cool, characters were twice the usual size, and the moe character, Fran the Kuro No Berserker. As story developed, poor plot and bad twist got noticeable ,with decreasing number of characters and losing moe factor. But here at the episode 18, I found new aspect of this work. As the name describes, members of Black Faction are found out to be evil, in a way of satisfying themselves by the methods of killing and consuming others. That make sense why Jeanne and Red Berserker joined the team. On the other hand, members of Red are more innocent and having unsocial character. That also makes sense why Black Caster went over the other side and Shirou invited Fran to join his team. Also, with including other works of Fate series, plots of series strengthen each other. The caster of Fate/Zero admired Jeanne, his character was quite black. So now I understand that Jeanne was not summoned unfairly to join the Black Faction, but she was summoned to balance the ruler, and she perfectly fits the Black side. |

But since we got a Jeanne clone as well, i thought it could be some kind of symbolism and figured i might as well point this out. |

| Enjoyed seeing the flashbacks of Atalante and Jack as they really needed more characterisation. This episode proved to me that Jack and her master are more likeable versions of Fate Zero caster and his master. As at least Jack has good reasons for what she does and isn't as annoying as Caster and Ryunosuke and didn't take up as much screen time as them. |

| The idea behind Jack the Ripper for this show was excellent and a clever take on the legend, but honestly I'm just glad that Jack is dead so we can hopefully get the main plot rolling again; this Jack stuff has been a very long diversion, and I'm relieved that it's finally over. |

| This anime does exposition in very bland and boring way, by most part it's very idle, Zero suffered from this a lot as well. Another gripe I have with this, the action scenes/fights are just tiny skirmishes with no actual results majority of the time. The deaths overall have been anti climatic and boring as well. |

I second this when a character switches sides or something within lines, they often have a strong point which makes you sympathize with them or at least you understand them. Atlanta was just plain weird. |

| Loved this ep, almot all eps have been great for a while and this one is above the last ones that were already pretty good, which is great. I miss Astolfo but I can dealwith it if the show is good enough. I think. And I LOVE the numerous jabs at the real worlds that are made using various characters; not just Jack, although it's a pretty big partof it, but also some of Atalanta's line too; while they don't work on Jeanne because... That's the point, and the episode is very heavy on the fact that they didn't "twist" her (well, they did, but she mainly "twisted herlself") but that she saw herself in them; which is also why her wish to the grail is to save all children/make all children happy, I don't remember which one it is. Being cool and collected doesn't mean NEVER becoming emotional at all, especially when the main point of the whole deal is really close to what she lived herself and the reason she wanted the grail in the first place. |

| Atalanta has totally snapped. It's been a while since I've seen such a wild angry expression that she pulled off during her confrontation against Jeanne. Jack's Illusions really did a number on her. Still, at least Jeanne was able to put Jack to rest. Her scene with Sieg was good, but got better when Chiron came along and interrupted their "alone" time, which made Jeanne blush. =3 Heck, her expressions in this episode was gold. During the post-credits scene with Shakespeare's amusing talk, she got very jealous and turned away, pouting as Astolfo glomped Sieg with his usual cute expressions. That made me laugh quite a bit. =) |
