| ABEMA is no stranger to early episode releases, sure, but man, they really deserve to get skinned for how they handled this one. Splitting it into two separate episodes and only releasing the first... six? Then releasing the rest in such a bizarre format afterward as well. Credit to CR for once in their lives for somehow following along with it, albeit also in the same format >:( ABEMA's questionable decisions aside, if I had a nickel for every anime airing this summer about smoking featuring cute-ish waifus, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Anyways, that's pretty much the main selling point here. Who doesn't enjoy watching cute girls do absolutely heinous things? We love a lung-destroying queen around here. Our main guy is here too. Working at that company and smoking that much has apparently rotted his brain so badly that he genuinely can't tell Yamada and Tamaya are the same person xD Fun start overall. You can definitely see why this manga became so popular and eventually got an anime adaptation. This should be a fun watch, although the production values could be a bit better. That one imase song being the ED was a jumpscare though lmfao. |

| Seeing some episodes of this pop up as available really surprised me, especially since this was also on Crunchyroll, not just a random leak from looks of things. Kind of a shame since I think a more normal release pattern would have been more beneficial to the attention and hype this anime will get. The fact that it is 12 mini-episodes, where 2 make up one normal episode each, makes it even more bizarre to comprehend. Regardless, this was a good start (release aside). The animation approach and overall artstyle is much more simple and safe, but it does not need to go crazy without reason for a show like this. Sometimes, a more subtle and normal approach can work better. There's a light bit of teasing from Tayama's part to take a slight piss at Sasaki as a pick-me-up, since his pick-me-up is Yamada (who is Tayama) after stress from work daily in a not-so-healthy environment there. But the show feels calm, feels a bit down-to-earth and very enjoyable to watch with such a different mood. A romance with adults too, where the scope and depth of the relationship can really grow through interactions where they smoke together and talk out their daily problems. Yamada (Tayama) has such a fun personality too, especially in Tayama-mode when conversing with Sasaki there. Has a mix of a cool allure with the design and outfit and the mature voice and teasing nature, so the contrast of adorable and cool works for me. Yes, Sasaki is dense but the work has his brain and energy being drained with each day, so for a start, can give him a pass for the denseness. The chemistry is there from early signs, and that's always a good thing to have for a romance series. Great night-time feel and aesthetic too. Also, the OP and ED choices were strong. Both are fun listens, very catchy and fit the mood and tone of the show well. ZUTOMAYO and imase both cooked with their respective songs, and the simpler type of visuals again, work for this. This anime was one of the few I was most looking forward to in the Summer season, and the start is solid. Even if the release approach is a bit wank and bizarre. Hope the hype for the series can still pull through. |
| Congratz to the main writer and the director for crafting the most boring slice of life I've ever experienced. From the lifeless streets to the lazy animators not drawing the boss eyes to regurgitating the same shit about how soul crippling salary man jobs are. While we're at it, why the heck is the main male character named also Sasaki and looks a lot like the one from Sasaki & Peeps? Dunno who they made this title for. Young kids who are easy to impress about smoking. Or depressed middle aged guys trapped in a sh*t job just to be reminded fictional characters are also trapped in the same bucket. |

| Weird release schedule and format aside this was a really good start and the adaptation looks solid. One of my favourite romance story and thats from someone who loves onee san and hates younger female older male romances, specially with an age gap as big as this. Their character dynamics are a joy to watch and while this can feel slow at times there's also so much happening and it feels fresh concept wise and while a lot of the story is focused around their interactions while smoking as the title suggests it doesn't get boring at all and is a joy to watch. My girl be looking lovely.  |

| First of all, they seriously used "Night Dancer" as the ED. I like the song too, but it feels so awkward hearing it as the ED of this anime that I'm going to skip it every time it plays after an episode ends. In the Smoking area, they didn't even interact for 1 minute but she already decided that he is different from other guys lol. After this episode, I'll probably wait for more episodes to be released before watching another episode of "Yeah, smoking is cool, it gets you a hot young girl" The Anime. |
| This is my kinda Slice of Life anime ❤️ Yamada as Tayama is my favourite. She's smokin hot 😭❤️🔥❤️🔥 Not a fan of this kind of scheduling and early release.. could have limited to a early release of a single episode. |

| Solid start. Smoking is basically a dealbreaker for me but I still enjoyed this. Chill, cute romance with an adult cast? Not many of those around sadly. Love how much of a teaste Yamada is. Sasaki is a bit too daft though (really man, you can't tell?) but suspension of disbelief and all that. |

| man i thought this was gonna air in the next month. well im late and it seems like all the mini episodes are aired all at once on june 3rd. putting that aside i gotta say i loved this. Yamada is manipulative but it's alright if that's for just messing around. she's just real good at customer service. and love her design. it's a makima copy but yeah didnt expect that song in the ending. lol |

| After Rooster Fighter, this is another anime that got released 1 month earlier than its intended season. Is this a new trend or something? Also, why release this in such a bizarre format? Only the first 6 episodes were released, like it's a batch. Is Crunchyroll trying to be like Netflix? Fucking hell... But they're all split in half for some reason? Wtf are they smoking? I think smoking too much rotted Sasaki's brain. Bro couldn't even tell that Yamada and Tayama were the same. Tho this is pretty much just an extreme Clark Kent effect. She looks and talks very differently. It's obvious to us viewers cause we see everything from a neutral perspective. It would be difficult to spot someone like that if you didn't personally know them irl. Gotta say I'm hooked. Can't believe he didn't figure it out in the whole episode. Wonder how long Tayama will keep tormenting the poor guy. It's too funny. His reaction when he finds out will be gold. I love how good the animation looks. Thankfully, it's not janky like some anime. The OP and ED are good too. I guess one positive of the split mini episodes is that I can see them more often. People always love whining about anime not having adult main characters, but when a series with adult characters does release (which isn't that uncommon), none of these people watch them. I expected a lot more people to be talking about this series by now. I think the batch release just killed this series harder. Edit- No freaking way they added brand new OP and ED for the normal release. The same season having 2 different OPs and EDs is very uncommon. Thankfully, the new OP and ED are also great and done by the same artists. The new OP feels more anime Ig? Idk what better way to describe it. The old OP was sort of more unique. And I wish they didn't change it. But I'm glad it exists at all. Similar thing with the ED. The new one feels slightly higher budget. But I really loved the old song. I wish they didn't change that one. But it's not bad. It feels very similar to the "original" one. But it's pretty clear these were always supposed to be the "intended" OP and ED. The OP seemingly has characters who should appear in the latter half. And the ED is more animated. Just when I thought I didn't wanna rewatch the first 6 episodes, they found a way to take me back... Oh well. I think the show is actually great. So I don't mind rewatching it. Maybe I'll find some stuff I missed the first time. Wonder how Crunchyroll deals with the mini-episodes. Are they gonna delist them like the original first season of Re:Zero? That'd kinda suck for the OP and ED. Tho I guess you can always watch them on YouTube. But for many people, those won't be how they experience the show for the first time. |

| I see we're trying to get the record for the weirdest release schedule, SBR got competition. If I had a quarter for everytime a show encouraged me to start smoking, I'd have two it. The other being Kowloon Generic Romance. Gonna be hard competition for Yamada to dethrone Kujirai, but we'll see. Seems like a chill show, nothing amazing yet, but the characters are relatable. |
