| Aside from my favorite genres? I guess maybe a cover that I find appealing, and then after looking it up online to get the gist of the storyline. I know there have been a lot of manga in the past that I have gotten into whereas I wouldn't have otherwise either because it wasn't a genre I was particularly into, but the cover enticed me enough to at least look it up and maybe persuade me. That of course and if the said manga is about food, then I'll watch any story involving it. So long as I can remember not to lick the pages. |

| I wouldn't say it sells me instantly on the manga, but unless the artwork or character design looks interesting, I'm probably not going to delve deeper into considering reading the series unless it gets recommended that the story is really good or something. I like a lot of different genres of manga so elements like it being a sci-fi, romance, or comedy doesn't necessarily draw me in. |

The authors and publishers literally say they don't care to write great detective story, just because it's harder, longer, and automatically brings up nsfw marker for gore scenes and the investigations behind them :c (if they're drawn that much realistically, ofc). |

Specifically the type of care that the lifetime of experience of the writer parsed through to pick out and develop for the story. |
