| I remember watching Shaman King as a kid, and literally finished rewatching the OG series earlier today in preparation for this. It got off to a decent start, but yeah it was definitely rushed. This episode was basically the first 2 episodes of the OG series, and even then it still felt like a crammed summary since there were cut details. With how much they're trying to fit in 52 episodes though, it makes sense that they couldn't really afford to spend a lot of time on Mosuke and Amidamaru's relationship, among other things. Hopefully the pacing will only be rushed for now, with things slowing down to a more normal speed once we get past all the introductory stuff. On another note, I'm glad most of the same VAs from the OG version returned for this. It's a shame Yoh's original VA didn't come back, but ngl Yoko Hikasa actually sounded pretty similar to the original VA. I had to double check to make sure his VA actually did change lol. |

| The animation is so weak, but I could tell by the PV. I don't know if they're rushing the first arc in order to keep a better pace and more budget for more important parts, but man, this is not looking good so far. |
| Looks like they are relying on fans to remember the original series so they can blitz trough the early parts, sorta like what happened with FMAB. First episode seems good enough, even if the poll in this forum got bombed. It brought a smile to my face to remember just how enjoyable these characters are. |

| I remember watching the original when I was a kid on 4Kids and it was one of the better shows they had. I am really excited to watch this. I hope it will be great. The animation was great and fluid, the acting was good, the only issue is going to be with the pacing. Here is hoping they will be able to keep it from ruining it. |

| An okay first episode I guess... The Op aren't so catchy as the original one, but it wasn't that bad, I like the ed song more. I can't really remember the whole original episodes since I'm still a kid that time, but revealing Yoh twin at the first episode really feel so rush... Hearing Yoh voice at first, sound so feminine.... I thought it was some random girl, but I get to use to it after Yoh fight. I felt really weird hearing them in Japanese voice since I watched the dub version from the original version. I'm glad the new animation still kept some of the manga art style, it's weird but we know it's Takei Hiroyuki art. |

| Oh boy. Here it is. The Shaman King remake. Airing alongside the Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken remake no less. Both adaptations of a Weekly Shounen Jump battle shounen manga too. The animation looks decent. It's also faithful to the manga, albeit fast-paced, as it adapted the first 2 chapters of the manga (unlike the 2001 version which adapted just the first chapter). I think the same voice actors of the 2001 version returned to voice their respective characters too. Looks like it'll be 52 episodes long. And it's supposed to be a completed adaptation of the manga as well. Let's see if this'll surpass the original 2001 version in quality. This is going to be one hell of a ride. |

| AHHH...have I been putting TOO LONG to watch the 2001 original (and I did some years back), but no matter since this reboot is the complete package of Takei Hiroyuki's underrated Weekly Shonen Jump manga, and I'm all but ready for the nostalgia. Megumi Hayashibara for both OP and ED for the 1st Cour, all the memories of nostalgia flowing back. Yoh Asakura definitely looks better than the 2001 Xebec counterpart, and Manta Oyamada being the casual joker (that eventually joined Yoh in his Shaman King conquests), it's as I remember vividly. A well-earned start being faithful to the manga for Chapters 1 and 2. |

| i haven't watched the 2001 version, no nothing about this. My first impression is its pretty good and fast paced.The first episode is solid and i hope it gets better |

| I haven't watched the OG but this looks very boring. Why are this 13 year old kids the main characters? Why is this Manta kid so annoying? Why is this You kid so badass from the first episode and did his parents teach him how to button his shirt? Why is this Manta kid so short compared to other people in his class and why is his voice so annoying? Why are these bad guy designs purposely trying to make them look ugly and shit? Overall, I think this is a mediocre shonen with bland OP main character trying to seem nice but he is just annoying as well as the side characters. Comedy is forced, the show tries to be funny but can't. I will watch a few more eps but I think I wont change my opinion. Eventually will drop it if I get really bored of it. |

| I liked it. I cant remember OG shaman king at all and since a lot here mention fast pacing I checked the manga out, looks like they adapted 5 chapters into 1 while skipping most of the more casual scenes. Ultimately seems fine but if they wanna adapt the whole manga in 50 episodes that does seem a little worrying especially once they adapt later chapters as I can imagine that there will be much less stuff they could cut there. |

| haven't watch this series for a long time but i really like 1st episode, art style is more clear than og version. But the old OP is better no doubt But why this episode got so many 1/5 voted? |

| Never watched it as a child. Episodes came out too early and it didn't look appealing either. Had a discount battle shounen vibe to me. That's how I perceived it at least lol This episode was fine, but I'm not sold yet. Many pointed out fast pacing. I somewhat agree, nothing too bad, tho. It didn't take away much, there are worse offenders. |

| As somebody who’s never watched the 2001 version, but has read the manga’s first 5 volumes, this was a pretty good first episode. Some stuff could’ve been done better (For example, IMO the pacing was good, but could’ve been better), but I am pretty satisfied with this first episode. The animation’s pretty good and it’s pretty damn faithful to the manga. If they are really planning to adapt this all in 52 episodes, I hope it’s done right. I’ve already been let down this year once, I don’t want to be again. The OP is good, but I prefer the ED for this series so far. 5/5 because this episode was worth the wait. |

| Wow! Shaman King is back! OPED are both good! Great animation! Everything is so nostalgic! I think one of the most noticeable change here is Chocolove's lips. Great job Studio Bridge for making Chocolove's lips "normal" and not super thick, coz blacks aren't like that! This will surely be great! Now that a lot of anime that I love ended, there's something that I will look forward every week!  |

| As a complete newbie to Shaman King, this episode didn't really hook me. Nothing really happened and it didn't present the characters very well; Yoh seems very bland and Manta seems annoying af. However, since it's a 52 ep anime it's understandable that the story telling would be a lot slower so I'm gonna keep watching. |
