'Golden Kamuy: Saishuushou' Announces Winter 2026 Premiere, Prologue Movies for October 2025

The official website of the Golden Kamuy anime series announced on Wednesday that the final season, Golden Kamuy: Saishuushou, will begin airing on Tokyo MX and other stations in January 2026.

The website also announced two prologue movies to the final arc adapting the Sapporo Beer Koujou-hen (Sapporo Beer Factory Arc), revealing the theme song, a key visual (pictured), and teaser trailer. The first movie will premiere in Japanese theaters on October 10, with the second movie opening on October 31.

Rapper Awich (Shangri-La Frontier 2nd Season) and ALI (Jujutsu Kaisen, Beastars) are performing the movies' theme song, "Kogane no Kanata."

Yukihiro Shibutani (Fumetsu no Anata e) and Mao Miyake (Natsume Yuujinchou Shichi) are replacing Tooru Koga as art directors.

Shizutaka Sugahara (D-Frag!) is returning to direct the movies at Brain's Base. Other returning staff include series composer Noboru Takagi (Kingdom 3rd Season), character designer Takumi Yamakawa (Golden Kamuy 4th Season), and music composer Kenichiro Suehiro (Enen no Shouboutai).

Golden Kamuy adapts Satoru Noda's historical adventure manga, which ran in Young Jump magazine from August 2014 to April 2022. Shueisha published the 31st and final volume in July 2022. The manga has a cumulative 29 million copies in circulation.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in October 2016 and released the 31st and final volume in January 2024.

The first three seasons produced by Geno Studio aired in Spring 2018, Fall 2018, and Fall 2020, each running for 12 episodes. The fourth season, produced by Brain's Base, began airing in Fall 2022 but had a six-month delay after the sixth episode due to the death of an important staff member. The fourth season restarted from the first episode in Spring 2023. Crunchyroll and Funimation streamed all four seasons with subtitles and an English dub, respectively.

Yeah weird they're releasing movies just a couple of months before the final season.

But hey, really hype for the last season. Just hope it doesn't get delayed and stuff this time around like the last season did.

I have zero hopes for the movies to get a theatrical run in North America... Such a shame that it just doesn't seem to be nearly as popular overseas as in Japan.

Hopefully the arc is something of a side-quest so that the Final Season won't get messed up without it.

I'm always happy for more Golden Kamuy, but this is an annoying way to go about it given it's highly unlikely these will have an English release in time for the next season airing. So it's a case of either watching the next season as it airs without the context of these movies, or wait until the movies come out and miss all the discourse as season 5 airs.

Will there be a Western release of these in time for the next season in January? I know anime movies have gotten better at more timely Western releases over the past few years, but that's still just a little over a 2 month gap between the second movie and the final season.

That's huge news! Golden Kamuy: Saishuushou hitting in Winter 2026 sounds epic and with prologue movies dropping October 2025, the hype starts early. Can’t wait to see how they wrap it all up.
