I should have known that summer was a very busy season and yes, I'm having fun this season. So many things to do.

The Origin is super easy to find in many manga reading websites and reading it will be more convenient than exploring those old UC franchise shows. Unlike Crusher Joe Rebirth and Silent Möbius, The Origin got translated after Yasuhiko released that final volume making it accessible to manga readers that have yet to study Japanese.

Wild Arms 2 could sure use a better translation.

I still haven't completed either one, but both of them are quite exciting. In SaGa Frontier, you can pick multiple protagonists like Odin Sphere so more characters than Star Ocean 2. I still love the duality theme and getting to know Rena's tragic past in an alien planet though.

In Grandia 3, I have so much to explore and I want to know when Yuki's plane will be fixed. Unlike some Final Fantasy games, you don't have to wait forever before taking flight. :)

The problem with Crusher Joe Rebirth is that it's RAW, but you can find it on rawkuma.net. It's loosely based on the old Crusher Joe stuff, including that 1983 movie. While Crusher Joe Rebirth is in Japanese only, it's still an interesting and simple adventure story with more content than the original 80s manga (plenty of 80s manga were pretty short like Venus Wars and Ghost in the Shell which is way shorter than SAC). More or less like in Outlaw Star.

Not an 80s manga, but Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin is a massive improvement of the 1979 series that started it all. Better artwork and deeper overall story than 0079, a retelling this Universal Century franchise needed in the form of manga. Too bad Sunrise never adapted the whole entire manga by Yasuhiko-san, the character designer of that very short Venus Wars.

Come to think of it, the character designs in Crusher Joe Rebirth look kinda similar to that of The Origin and Venus Wars. That blonde character Alfin looks like Sayla while having longer blonde hair and both girls are good enough with handling machinery.

Other than that, I've been exploring Grandia 3 and Frontier SaGa HD.

As for Crusher Joe Rebirth, it's a fun space adventure manga. It reminds me of Outlaw Star somewhat.

Yes! Some of my friends love Outlaw Star. Even said Sailor Mars loving friend. Aisha is one of my favorite characters.

With that said, do you have lots of plans for summer?

I really look forward to buying those fairly new Pentonic retractable pens for Back To School. I think that this Pentonic has that seemingly ergonomic barrel that even my left hand will love to play with. The ink is also smooth, requiring less pressure.

I also look forward to chopping eucalyptus with my first knife in Swedish chrome vanadium steel.

Yep! Derek Stephen Prince included and I hope to see more roles taken by him. I also love the setting of Guardians of the Wild Sky, it reminds me of the time I went to some old, sky high civilization in Arc The Lad 3. Poor Elk's airship had trouble landing there with all the storm clouds around it while trying to drop off Alek and friends so that they can confront bad guys.

A sky full of airships would be very convenient indeed and I'm all for some steampunk technology in real life. Arc The Lad 2 had lots of airships too until a cataclysmic event happened because of a great and terrible demon.

The airship in FF5 going from being run by a fire crystal to steam was pretty smart. Other than that, I hope that sky islands or cities floating in Venus will be a reality.

Anyway! It's also nice to see Guardians of the Wild Sky include multiplayer as a choice.

I'll have to check out this Tears of the Kingdom some time as well.

Oh storms! I saw a heavy rainstorm on Saturday with the streets all flooded and covered in hail. I hope no one got stuck inside a car under a pile of hail getting hypothermia. Nicky, as the usual house puppy, stayed inside the whole time.

No news about voice actors chosen for the Suikoden 2 adaptation yet, but it's set to premiere in Japan this year with Yuzo Sato as the showrunner. My old friend ANN (the old website that I've known since the days of dial-up) said that Koji Nakamura will be the music composer. I really hope that Konami Animation will consider adapting Aki Shimizu's manga next. So anyway! I have my busy Gemini friend to thank for telling me about the Suikoden 2 adaptation that time I was playing Suikoden 2 remastered.

Speaking of remasters, I look forward to playing SaGa Frontier HD which I found on GOG at a great price. I hope that more classic JRPGs will make it there. Especially Parasite Eve, Grandia and even FFX. Getting Arc The Lad games to GOG will be hard unless Sony (hardly interested in RPGs anymore) gives up ownership of this franchise. They really need similar treatment to the PC port of FF7. Arc The Lad games do a good job telling stories about the consequences of technological and industrial overreach which is also a real life problem. Conflict between humanity and nature also having been explored by this old Sony franchise (Yui Horie reprising her role as Lieza would have been nice; may Yuko Mizutani RIP who voiced Kukuru in the Bee Train anime).

I also got Ys 1 & 2 in mind, but first, it's Guardians of the Wild Sky. I also forgot that Oath in Felghana is a modern remake of Ys 3 with Derek Stephen Prince in the cast. Yes, the voice of Uryū Ishida and Oswald (from Odin Sphere).

Pokopia definitely goes well with the Switch 2 given that it's a short game. Playing the new Fire Emblem on it would be frustrating because of that short battery life and because JRPG stories span for days.

That means a lot to me Kyoko and I'm glad that First Departure got the remake it deserved. As we can see, Second Story came out first in the west.

With that said, how are you doing this spring?

After Capcom already released Pragmata, I vaguely heard that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is being considered.

I also wonder what's taking that Suikoden anime adaptation to get released. I really want to see which Suikoden characters household names will get to voice.

Happy 41st birthday to Kaori Nazuka, by the way. The lady who voiced Subaru in Dot Hack Sign which is still criminally underrated.

That's definitely the kind of fun we should expect from Palworld. Now I want to get back into this persistently fun game some time.

As you can see, I enjoy a decent amount of anime both subbed and dubbed.

I also switched the audio between English and Japanese in some games. Such as Odin Sphere (one of the reasons why I like Mamiko Noto), Ninja Gaiden Black, Valkyria Chronicles and even Dot Hack (only for IMOQ games). In the original Grandia, I just switched the audio to Japanese because older dubs sound cheesy.

I wish that Robot Alchemic Drive could have gotten dual audio as well (that female reporter with Faye Valentine's hairstyle gets on my nerves with that out of place Japanese accent). I heard better dubbing upon news reporters in Stand Alone Complex which sounded more convincing. Too bad Enix was on a tight budget one year before that Square Enix merger. That explains why RAD had soulless acting compared to that of 4Kids, Funimation or even Ocean dubbers. I do thank Square Enix for hiring better actors for Star Ocean 3 after the merger. Michelle Ruff, AKA Rukia, did a great job voicing Sophia Esteed compared to Atsuko Enomoto AKA A-20 from Dot Hack. That Japanese lady about the same age as Rie Tanaka who is widely known for Gundam SEED, Chobits, later Darkstalkers and Persona 3.

Oh! Pokopia, some people seem to be dying to play that game despite it being a Switch 2 exclusive. I wouldn't want the Switch 2 to brick while playing that new Fire Emblem game. I love JRPGs, but I prefer to play them consistently and I remember when I had trouble getting through Suikoden 5 on my old PS2. Nintendo really needs to keep the Switch 2 working.

So glad that emulation exists and the dub in that last Suikoden game was incredible. That and its graphics which still looks amazing.

I also completed the underrated First Departure R. Defeated an end-game boss in some hostile planet and credits rolled. Unfortunately, one of my party members was defeated in battle despite having a good weapon that inflicted poison to targets.

I'll look forward to Guardians of the Wild Sky as a whole entire game as well and how was Palworld?

While I did watch Cowboy Bebop dubbed plenty of times, I also enjoyed the Japanese voices. Like Megumi Hayashibara as Faye Valentine. Sayaka Ohara as well, long before she took on the role of Layla, Illya, Milly Ashford, Sailor Neptune, Miranda, Erza or my beloved Selvaria Bles. She voiced so many side characters in her debut anime role.

I also forgot that Spike and Goofy from KH were voiced by Koichi Yamadera.

As for remasters, I'll be praying that all the ones you really want, well remastered, will be possible. I do wonder which games you want with like the FFX HD treatment though. Either way, I'll cross my fingers with you.

Now I really want to check out Guardians of the Wild Sky. All of a sudden, it's reminding me of the monsters I caught (merged into real fighters) in Jade Cocoon which could have been the original Ghibli game. With that said, I want to play Guardians of the Guardians of the Wild Sky so badly now.

Kimitaka Matsumae should compose music more often. Especially for anime and his music could fit into something dark fantasy. He could have also composed music for Princess Mononoke. So yeah! Jade Cocoon has incredible music like Sirius Village and even the boss theme. Music aside, it was perfectly dubbed compared to most retro games because of Michelle Ruff and Richard Epcar.

Better than the likes of Tales of Eternia, that old dubbing was terrible. Called Tales of Destiny 2 in North America until the PSP port came. The actual sequel of ToD never came to the west because of Namco fearing lawsuits by Hasbro using the name Eternia.

Hopefully, Dot Hack Zero will get CC2 back in game development after a long vacation. Said Dot Hack developers should get Tail Concerto (needs to have dual audio because I also want to hear Maaya Sakamoto as Princess Terria in another playthrough) and Naruto games remastered some time. I also have yet to play Asura's Wrath which is often forgotten for some reason.

As for First Departure, I finally got more party members and I have no interest in recruiting Welch because she has zero utility in battle. So that character is more suitable for long-time Star Ocean fans. I prefer Mavelle or Ilia in battle. Yuri Lowenthal as Roddick is very interesting though.

I do love Melissa Charles as Welch though who is easily known as Ed from Cowboy Bebop. Having done a great job as kids like Tara Strong (one of the best things about Canada besides Rush, Bryan Adams or the Ocean dubbers) who is the same age. They're both brilliant actresses despite being from two different countries. One is specialized in anime, the other in American cartoons. Again, both do kids well and they both sound cute.

Melissa Charles is one of the reasons why I watched Tenjho Tenge and Gatekeepers dubbed. I also think that her supporting role in S-Cry-Ed is meaningful.

I wonder what Guardians of the Wild Sky is like. I'll have to check it out after exploring First Departure, the first Star Ocean game with Yuri Lowenthal included.

I don't know why, but Julie Maddalena oddly sounds like Lisa Ortiz's as Ilia, a space martial artist. She's probably in the same class as Rena and Cliff, martial artists in other Star Ocean games. I also can't wait to hear Richard Epcar later in the game. I remember him dubbing some king of a primitive planet where it was medieval all day. Making peace in that king's planet or squashing the feud between countries was easy once Fayt and Cliff helped those inhabitants focus on a much bigger threat from outer space.

This new Dot Hack project sounds quite interesting too even though details are still pending, but all the more reason to wait for a further announcement. I'll be very astonished to see the return of Dot Hack guaranteed.

As for imported Blu-rays, I look forward to getting Turn A, Zegapain, Heaven's Feel, G Gundam, Noir and more directly from Japan. Hopefully, Hyper Police will be remastered for Japanese Blu-ray as well (I can just use the likes of Anikai to re-watch it dubbed). If it hasn't already.

As we can see, Dorothy Elias Fahn voiced Kaoru, Meryl and even that fox demon lady Sakura years before she voiced the powerful Maria Traydor from Till The End of Time (best character for fighting superbosses). Saying Magnetic Field before Energy Blast a lot during optional boss fights.

Oh right! I haven't watched Garden of Sinners yet. I usually find 2006 Fate/Stay night to be more underrated than UBW (got bored of that TBQH; Tohsaka being tsundere sounds out of place for me).

Messing around with demos is a good idea too. Steam and Wild Arms developers, MediaVision, should come to terms to discount Time Stranger as well. Given it scored rather well on the Steam Charts for a Digimon game. One of the most successful JRPGs on Stream since Grandia HD or Octopath Traveler.

As for Code Vein 2, I hope that it'll get an expansion pack that will deal with all the technical difficulties. Yes, I pray for that sequel to get fixed while expanding like the upcoming Trails in the Sky: 2nd Chapter. At least Code Vein 2 has Sayaka Ohara in the cast and I still love her as Selvaria. Yes, she was also the little girl we met in FFX somewhere in that Mi'ihen Highroad after doing the mandatory blitzball stuff. Very popular among the Code Geass and Fairy Tail fanbase too.

So yes, I hope for some drastic changes upon Code Vein 2. Maybe not as drastic as changes in old Korean mmorpgs, but still. Enough to surpass Resonance of Fate (I prefer Star Ocean or the Valkyrie Profile series).

Kyoto Xanadu is guaranteed to come out on Steam like any other Nihon Falcom games. I really need to check out some Trails of Cold Steel some time. I also can't believe that Ys 10 or Proud Nordics is coming out this year. You know how much Ark of Napishtim and Oath in Felghana (has a dubber you are familiar with via Bleach) mean to me. Ys 7 should have gotten voice acting, but I definitely cried when a character died. As tragic as the character deaths in S-Cry-Ed or Odin Sphere. Solty Rei as well.

I'll also look forward to Type Moon stuff like Fate/EXTRA Record, Fate/Trigger or Fate/Strange this year. A Sailor Mars fangirl that I haven't seen in a while loves anything Type Moon. She once requested that I draw Nero (the red Saber) all those years ago which I did. The Saber of Fate/Extra or that jolly Saber which I love. That character sometimes reminds me of how jolly and cute you are.

I also feel a similar spirit in Nero that I felt in Rikku, sometimes.

Ah yes! I remember someone having told me how expensive Type Moon physical media were according to Aniplex. Like nice try Sony, but I rather get Fate/Stay night on Blu-ray directly from Japan.

I'm willing to import physical anime directly from Japan to avoid highway robbery by Sony. I also hope that Japan has Twilight Venom remastered on Blu-ray even though I prefer to watch that dubbed.

Cyberpunk 2077 is pretty interesting and so glad its sales have soared since last Year of the Rabbit after its Phantom Liberty expansion pack fixed all those bugs making that game complete.

I'm also surprised that Cyberpunk Edgerunners is getting a second season. Nice to see that game expand further into anime territory. More media aside from manhwa should follow suit or expand into anime also.

2026 is definitely a new year, but fireworks are put on hold in Asia for February. I have to agree with Jade from Jackie Chan Adventures saying that Chinese New Year rocks. Even the Koreans and south Pacific will be celebrating on the 17th of next month.

So far, January is a decent month and I pray for Code Vein 2's success. It should be able to succeed like the last JRPG Namco released. Digimon Story: Time Stranger, that is.

As usual, I love stories about environmental decay. Kind of what Arc The Lad games explored aside from moral ambiguity and technology VS nature.

Definitely the successor to 3DS and PSVita. A shoujo and steampunk fangirl about your age that I haven't seen in ages would rather play games on mobile devices (great for lunch breaks or in the laundromat where arcade games are rare these days). Hopefully, Valve's Gabecube or Steam Machine will be travel-sized for her convenience too. It makes more sense to use alternative platforms to the Switch 2 so people can still afford doctors. I feel sorry for Nintendrones having a hard time affording Nintendo games and doctors simultaneously. Good thing I don't have a Switch 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 runs faster on PC. My brother loves that sci-fi game, by the way.

With that said, I hope that you'll have a wonderful Year of the Horse.

For said 40 year-old Virgo friend's sake, I hope that she'll get brand new sci-fi anime this year. I would normally read indie comics for brand new sci-fi like Black Science and East of West which is dystopian western (sounds like Fallout meets Old West). I consider the movie Logan dystopian western given that it took place in the western 🇺🇸 some time in the future. A difficult future for mutants. Black Science is the closest thing to Turok in graphic novels. Where timelines, reality, etc are screwy.

Other than that, it was nice hearing that tomboy talk about her outdoor activities and her dad's homestead. I would sure love to have a homestead as well. I'm thinking about building one south of Chile. Kind of the place where potatoes come from and blueberries love it there too. The proximity to Brazil, Paraguay, Hawaii, Guam and south Pacific countries (Malaysia and The Philippines where a lot of Ragnarok Online players are at) helps as well. I would sure love to see an aurora in the summertime as well.

Harmony Gold and Big West have already agreed to localize future Macross movies worldwide, but now they have to wait for a Japanese studio to make another Macross anime. I haven't seen the Macross Frontier movie from 2011, but Macross Frontier wasn't that great IMO.

Until then, I'll stick to Macross before Frontier.

At least next year will be a promising year for entertainment. Plenty of games from India will come to Gamepass, Steam, Xbox, etc next year. Lots more will also come from Korea and China. I hope that Japanese developers will be up for some serious competition.

Technically, you can still play as a paladin in Ragnarok Online, but you would have to change to imperial guard to take on stronger monsters or access very dangerous dungeons. Only fourth classes like the imperial guard or higher extended classes can wear more advanced gears. That or get the next best high-end weapons. I'll be waiting for future Ragnarok Online gears too even though I'm happy with the Grace set and happy that extended classes have already gotten more gear choices.

I really need to explore other Korean mmorpgs as well, including other classics that came out in the 2000s like Mabinogi.

As for manga, I'll be exploring the rest of Guyver. Wild Arms XF was a good game to manga adaptation besides Suikoden 3 which has a more detailed story than its source material.

Yes, Aki Shimizu is a great mangaka. Some of her art and character expressions in Suikoden 3 reminds me of FMA.

I also want to check out Enshrouded some time. Especially for crafting that I experienced in Star Ocean 3 or first fully 3D installment in its franchise.

It may be important to note that you can easily finish the story of Ark of Napishtim. A smartphone can easily emulate that PSP port and that of its successor, Oath in Felghana. Ys VIII is the successor of both that I haven't played yet, but I prefer the older Ys games' artstyles.
