I didn't believe this would turn out into a good adaptation, maybe I would if it was a short OVA, but I was still left disappointed.

My biggest problem with the NGO adaptation is that, not only is it not really an adaptation, but it fails at delivering anything.
This anime lacks direction. Seriously. It wants to be psychological, Idol, Romance, Mahou Shoujo?, Denpa and whatever is convenient but the end result is a mess that isn't sure what it wants to be.

The original game was a simple psychological experience focused on streaming culture, the problems of the internet and the unhealthyness of Ame.
The anime ... despite also having these, suffers from having them taking the backstage as they focus on making it a mediocre Idol drama and introducing a bunch of characters "Karamazov" that really don't feel necessary to the wider plot. Yeah cool, throw me some Dostoievski references at random, because that will suddenly make a bunch of characters that all blend together interesting.

What made the game cohesive was how focused it was in its themes and on the Ame, now it's not about that but solely trying to criticise normies, society and the internet, all while spamming references to whatever they feel like. On paper these are okayish ideas, but you quickly realise that they aren't very interesting as a viewing experience and end up feeling plain edgy.

Now to give it some credit, despite mediocre animation, it still managed to be unique at a visual level. Some people complain it's trying too hard to be artsy but that's not a flaw if it's done well, which I believe it indeed was. The music is also at the same level as it was in the game, so, pretty damn good.

Overall, I could see some potential but I don't think the show's direction was good enough to make a worthwile watch, as it honestly was tedious and repetitive at its core.

So first of all, I must say that the VN is one of my favourite pieces of media ever, so I won't be able to escape bias, and for that, I apologise.

I think we should give credit where credit is due, it's not easy at all to adapt a visual novel with as many routes and as much content as Little Busters into a tv series without much sacrifice. But even then, I believe this one is decent, especially as fan service, but no anything special.

At a technical standpoint, it's straight up weak. The art style is alright but the animation is very lacking and ... you can clearly notices awkward moments if you pay attention.

Story wise, it's all over the place. Routes like Mio were honestly adapted very well, except for the ending. But one thing that did confuse me is how they adapted the supernatural elements (Kud's route and Mio's). Instead of making them moments of weight, they just make things happen for basically no reason, this happened mainly because of how fast things happen, but comes off as just lazy writing.
Meanwhile Komari's route suffers from the fact they barely have moments of just Riki and Komari alone and the ending was way too compressed. You cant make multiple lines of dialogue become one without them becoming too corny and unrealistic and that's exactly what happen.
Haruka's, despite being most peoples least favourite in the VN, it was my favourite. And oh god... it was terrible. It started halfway in and yet again there were basically no moments of Riki and Haruka alone, which were the clear strong points in the vn. The rest was ok, but the ending was also changed for not much reason.
I actually liked the common route, its supposed to not be too serious and it delivers exactly that, a relief.
Also I hate how Riki kept saying the same story to everyone like that solves anything.

Despite the negativity, it was still a overall fun watch and the chemistry between the characters is still good, just not alligned to my expectations.
Now do I recommend it? Sure, it's fun and refrain is good enough to make it worth it.

To put it simply, Kuzu no Honkai tries too hard to be deep, but ends up as a lackluster story that might appeal to some because of its unique premise, but also make some absolutely despise it. Unfortunately, I'm part of the latter.

One of the most common points that I see about this show is that it is mature and realistic. But, seriously? I know that they try to represent how lust can consume one's mind but it genuinely feels like half of the show's time was spent in a bedroom scenario. It felt like an H anime that just got censored. This makes the ... pacing feel off and also makes it incredibly boring to watch.
The characters are all unlikable and act stupid, genuinely no one acts like this. There's no way half of the characters could get away unnoticed after doing all that, not to mention it does not feel natural at all how so many fucked up things happen at the same time, that are coincidentally all connected.

The art and music are honestly pretty good. The opening is good and the ending is freaking amazing. The art feels soothing and the animation is pretty smooth.

Overall, it's just a very unconfortable and edgy show that can feel rewarding to some but really lame to others. It's very School Days-like. You either love it or hate it.

There's actual interesting stuff about the psychology of the characters here and there, despite the MC being indeed a piece of shit, it's very clearly intentional and connected to the plot, so that doesn’t automatically make the show bad, right? Technically, not really, but It's really not fun watching him around "playing" with everyone. The plot sometimes is written like an H anime. Oh, and I'm sure no girl would act like that to someone so "popular", like what they constantly call the MC. It's not the worst thing ever but I'd rather watch Mars of Destruction or Skelter Heaven 100x than watching any more ... of this, even though I consider those to be worse.

Like many other people, I watched this for the meme: "Ah that one show that sucks haha!". What ended up happening is that I witnessed one of the most impactful shows ever. In the worst way possible. I want to erase my memory. I'm traumatised and the ending turned me sick, almost made me vomit. I think I've never felt so affected by a show. Do not watch this for the jokes like me, it's not worth it. I am trying to be your friend.

TLDR: It's mostly a decently well crafted show in terms of writing, not outstanding, but not horrible either, but watching it was so unpleasant that It took away all the enjoyment.

I freaking love Hibike! Euphonium. However I can't help but feel like this season, despite still being great, took an amazing material and made it a bit worse in some areas for no reason. Again, I still think It's great and I'm still giving it an 8 because i feel like this one is very hard to rate but my main problem is that there were pretty high highs but also some considerable lows.

I think that making Kumiko the class president was a phenomenal dynamic, showing how stressful managing a club can be and how it can absolutely demolish yourself. The whole arcs about the ... president having to make the atmosphere better for everyone, both the first and the latter, were absolutely amazing and show just how immersive this series can be and how well they understand human emotion. I love how it shows how terrible it can be to be a first year when seniors don't take you into consideration. Also, Kousaka pointing out that there was something wrong for it all to go wrong the previous years and that there must be changes just goes to show how much she really cares for the success of the club.
Motomu's arc, despite being very short is still definitely one of my favourites of the series. It really goes to show how much a weird family dynamic can affect you in everything in life, not to mention how some people at school mock you without knowing anything. However, the great part about it is that you can feel the impact of this arc for the rest of the show, he really does change for the better and it's just beautiful. Kanade as well, compared to Chikai no Finale, despite still being Kanade, obviously grew as a person and became, at least to me, way more mature and interesting. She's definitely a sleeper MVP this season.
On the first half, Mayu was also really interesting. She clearly is struggling at fitting in and feels uneasy when it comes to replacing people that were already members. The Kousaka-Kumiko relation was also really beautifully made yet again, it's sad to see them talking about the future and eventual separation but also feels natural.
The season captures the melancholy of last chances and the pressure of final competitions, the passage of time is felt, and hits like a freaking truck.
The ending and the dynamic of Kumiko trying to find what she wants to do was put together really nicely. It connects like a great puzzle at the end of it all, as you start to understand previous scenes more.
Visually, this is clearly the standout in the series. The art and animation style is pratically flawless and goes perfectly with the tone of series. Even the use light and shadows is cleverly used to reflect the mental state of the characters.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of smaller things that stop this season from being a straight up masterpiece though.
My biggest problem, honestly, is Mayu. She started off great but as the series progresses, she goes from a character with decent depth and a lot to be developed to a one dimensional, flat character that has nothing going for her until episode 12. The only thing she does is say "Are you sure?". Now, when Kanade tells Kumiko that she doesn't actually want to forfeit she kinda regains some points, but that doesn't take away the fact she became insanely boring for most of the series.
Also, in this season, Kousaka feels way too much like a worshipper of Taki. Her love for him was always weird but passable, but this time it felt a little bit more obnoxious.
Returning to Mayu, her later arc felt out of place in my opinion. I think her winning the soli for the Kansai competition was enough to show that you won't always win, even if you try really hard. But doing it again at the end of the season for nationals? I don't think it mattered that much for the overall ending but Mayu being chosen for nationals felt like an insult. We literally see multiple scenes of Kumiko working her ass off to get the position, but Mayu which feels like a background NPC with extra screen time just gets it. It felt like just a cheap way to build an emotional scene that ended up not hitting as hard as it should have because of how predictable it was. To me that also took away a slight bit of impact from the final performance, though not as critical.
Talking of performances... One performance in a whole season of a music anime is not satisfactory. I get that the characters were always the focus but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give some importance to performances either.

Overall, considering this season's ratings and how good S1 and S2 were, I was slightly disappointed by the direction of the final product but it's still worth watching nonetheless as what stood out in other seasons is also here and sometimes done even better, without being too attached to the old formula. It adds something new to the table and is a must-watch to any fan of Hibike! Euphonium.
